In this episode we get to hear from not only one, but two huge names in the industry. Tonya Eberhart and Michael carr, that together make up the company Brand Face. I found the story of how they got to where they are today one of the coolest things I’ve heard in awhile.
Tonya got her start selling vacuums door-to-door to pay her way through college and even though that may not seem like the most pivotal job to have, she mentions it’s when she first learned the importance of setting yourself apart if you ever want to be successful at selling anything. She then went on to spend the next 18 years in a sales role in the radio business. Tonya took her past sales experiences and her passion for personal branding and founded what is now Brand Face.
Meanwhile, Micheal had built his career as a very successful auctioneer and real estate agent. It was at a pretty frustrating point in his career when he hired Tonya’s aunt. She essentially told him he could use a little help with his marketing strategies and told him he needed to hire her niece, Tonya. Begrudgingly, he did. He didn’t feel like he had the time to mess with marketing or anything Tanya had to offer, but slowly he realized she was really authentic and everything she was telling him to do was working. He became one of her best clients. So much so that she asked him to be a co-author of a book she was writing regarding his experience with her company. Fast forward to today and they are business partners and co-owners of Brand Face.
They have built success within their company by helping real estate agents differentiate themselves using a three step approach that they elaborate on in this interview. The key, above all else, is discovering what makes you different and developing your brand around that. Authenticity is key.
